Who am I, you ask?

Dave Park 1

Hello! My name is Dave Park, and you're probably wondering how I came up with this unique domain name, "DaveNOTDavid", in the first place... In today's society, you probably have noticed by now that there are a lot of Davids out there (at least more than Daves, which is especially noticable in the Korean-American community) so inevitably, most people would mistakenly call me David instead. In order to possibly mitigate that, I figured that a domain like mine would serve as a first step, but in a more humourous way. And yes, I can assure you that I don't get offended (at least not as much as back then when I was a kid) when pulling the same mistake :-)

What do I do? I'm a software developer with experience working on projects ranging from personal ones all the way to the enterprise/ProdTech level. Starting out, I took the rather unconventional route where I took my first-ever programming course (Python FTW!) during my economic internship in DC after my employer there convinced me considering that programming experience is heavily demanded in most if not all job industries. From thereon, I ended up changing majors from business/economics to CompSci during my undergrad at George Mason University, and then the rest is history. As of writing this, I'm currently working as a Software Engineer at Angie's List located around the DC metro area. The projects I work on here are mainly mobile client-side with a bit of back-end and automation. Aside from work, I volunteer on-the-side by helping out my local tech community with things like writing out informative newsletter content (while automating it with scripts as much as possible) for our members, occasional social media posts, and basically all-things outreach wise. Check us out at https://devcommunity.org!

What do I like to do for fun? Some things I enjoy doing in order to stay sane include, but not limited to, skiing, hiking, driving, reading, playing Rocket League (hit me up at my ID, "DaveNOOTDavid"), watching sports and movies/shows, and playing sports. During times of self-quarantine though, probably at least half of what I just mentioned earlier still stays intact ;-)
